Hi, I’m Mike—the person behind MrBikeMan.
Before I built businesses, bought rental properties, or started buying bicycles, I was a kid whose family was looking for a safer life.
I was born in Iran. My family fled religious persecution and left behind the life we knew.
Our journey took us through refugee camps in Pakistan before we eventually came to America.
One memory has stayed with me: watching my dad and uncle play chess in the heat. It’s a small memory from a very different chapter of my life.
Coming to America gave us a chance. It didn’t give us an easy start.
My parents couldn’t read or write. We had no financial safety net. What they gave me was an example of hard work, resilience, and starting again when life doesn’t go according to plan.
Long before I learned how to run a business, I learned something from watching them:
You don’t have to have everything figured out to take the next step.
That determination stayed with me.
I Didn’t Start in the Bicycle World. I Started With Hustle.
In ninth grade, I started my first business as a personal trainer.
I was still in school, but I was already learning how to find customers, deliver a service, and take responsibility for the result.
I learned early that when you want to build something, you have to be willing to get started—and do the work.
I Started With $100—and a Willingness to Do the Work.
After college, I chose to live in my car so I could put my resources into building a business. I started that chapter with just $100.
Living in my car wasn’t the dream. Building something of my own was.
I had to learn, solve problems, and make the most of what I had. There wasn’t a big budget to cover every mistake.
Over time, I built a moving company with locations in Dallas, Houston, Austin, and Fort Worth. I owned and operated that business for 14 years.
I also started a real estate brokerage, growing it to 22 agents and brokers working under me. Alongside those businesses, I bought rental properties and spent 10 years as a landlord.
I built those businesses without taking on debt.
Those beginnings are still part of who I am.
When I talk about building a business, I’m not talking about something I read in a book. I’m talking about work I’ve done, risks I’ve taken, and lessons I’ve had to learn along the way.
Then Everything Changed.
From the outside, my life looked successful. But something was missing.
I had built businesses and accumulated possessions. I wanted more peace—not more things to manage.
So I made a different choice.
I gave belongings to people experiencing homelessness, let go of my businesses, and sold off my six cars, six motorcycles, three ATVs, and rental properties.
I chose less to own, less to manage, and more room for the life I wanted.
Minimalism. Simplicity. Freedom.

When I stripped away the things I no longer wanted in my life, I started appreciating the simple things again.
For me, that included the bicycle.
Getting outside. Moving under my own power. Having time to think—or simply enjoy the ride.
A bicycle became more than a way to get somewhere. It became part of how I wanted to live.
